Obv: View of a church, ST OLIVES OLD-JEWRY B.T. 1710. Rev: Cypher P S Co, DEDICATED TO COLLECTORS OF MEDALS & COINS around, Reverse type #1. Edge: Plain.

Uncirculated with some red remaining. Choice.

This church has history going back to the 12th century. The name St. Olive is more accurately St. Olave or St. Olaf, in reference to its Saxon roots. The church was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666 and rebuilt by Christopher Wren. The tower is the only surviving example of  ‘battered’ architecture in London, in which the base of the tower is wider than the top. The church itself was torn down in 1888, but the tower remains to this day.
