Also formerly known as the Bastille Gate, this gate was removed in 1849. Using designs by Thomas Sharp, Thomas Wyon created the dies for this series of architectural structures in Coventry. Sharp was partially motivated to outshine the architectural tokens of Birmingham, their close neighbor.
