VF. Six-pence token. Scarce.
Diesinker, Wyon; Manufacturer, unknown. These were probably private tokens. The Arnold Works tokens were issued by the owners of the wool spinning mill at Arnold, which was only a few miles from Nottingham. Six hundred apprentices, mostly young boys were overworked and underfed here. Mortality was high and six deaths a week were considered normal. The Mill closed in 1811 during the depression in the wool trade.
