A relatively new hotel at the time of striking, the Wilday’s Hotel was built in 1772. Bell notes that it played an important role in the Birmingham Riots of 1791. Queen Victoria, Horatio Nelson, and King Louis XVIII all stayed at The Hotel at one time or another.
