Obv: Horseman galloping left, WILTSHIRE YEOMANRY CAVALRY around, 1794 in exergue. Rev: Three mounted horsemen, one carrying a flag, THEIR TOKEN. (above), P.A.ET.F. in exergue. Edge: Milled.

Uncirculated and Choice brown. Rare.

A specious token using the reverse of the private token of Lacon Lambe, the son of Mary Lambe. (Somersetshire Bath D&H 24). Mr. Lambe, as well as being a token collector himself, was also probably a member the local yeomanry. The Lambe & Son trade token is the Somersetshire Bath D&H 50. The P.A.ET.F stands for the latin “Pro Aris et Focis, the motto of the Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry, meaning ‘For Hearth and Home”.
